In Lois Lowry's novel, Number the Stars, we were introduced to Annemarie Johansen, a young Danish girl, and her best friend, Ellen Rosen, a Jew. Our class learned how both girls faced many trials and tribulations throughout World War II. While reading the book, we also found out that Annemarie's family friend, Peter, was involved in the Danish Resistance. Many of you were surprised that the Resistance sabotaged the Nazis and provided intelligence for the Allies. Thanks to the hard work of the Resistance and the Danish people, several thousand Jews were smuggled safely out of Denmark into neutral Sweden. Now I want you to take our story one step further. Join me in a fun-filled quest as we combine our newfound knowledge about World War II with technology!
