Step One:
You will be assigned to a group of three students. One you have been assigned a team, you will begin creating your coded message.
Complete the following steps to make your podcast:
1) Using your Number the Stars novel, pencil, and paper, generate a coded message that tells a Dane how to smuggle Jews out of Denmark.
2) Edit your work until it is perfect!
3) Have two group members practice the conversation.
4) Once you are ready, record your message in Audacity.

Directions for podcasts: You will record your coded message in Audacity. Double click on the Audacity desktop icon to open the Audacity program. Press the record button, which is the red circle, to record your voice. Speak clearly in the microphone. When you are finished, press the yellow square stop button. Your recorded voice will automatically appear in the audio track. You can edit your work by going under Effects. You can amplify, speed up the tempo of your voice, etc. In Edit, you can undo anything. To delete parts of the voice, simply highlight the unwanted section, and hit backspace or delete. When you are finished, you will need to save your Podcast. Insert your stick drive into the laptop. In Audacity, click on File, then Export. Find your stick drive, and click on it so you podcast will be saved. For the file name, type in the last names of your group members. Make sure you save the file as an MP3. Click Save. In Edit Metadata, type in the last names of your group members once again. Click Ok. Now your podcast is complete. Let your teacher know you are finished, and she will help you save your podcast onto a website. Your work will be posted so your classmates can listen to it and decode the message!

You must compose the cover page of your Resistance newspaper, De Frie Danske. Complete the following tasks to create your newspaper:
1) Under the attachment section below, click on Download. Save the newspaper template on your stickdrive.
2) Once you have opened the PowerPoint, erase the words in the columns.
3) Come up with an article that informs the Danes how to sneak the Jews from Copenhagen to Gilleleje.
4) When writing your article, remember to use the six reporting questions: who, what, when, where, why, and how.
5) After editing your written work, type your article in the large text box of the newspaper template.
6) Make sure you include a catch phrase, headline, and a corresponding picture you found from the internet in your newspaper template.

Using a flip camera, you must record an instructional video. You must give the Danish Jews instructions on how to dress for their trip, how to avoid Nazis when walking to the dock, and how to hide in the boat. Make sure you are very detailed and use examples from the novel! Complete the following tasks to create your video:
1) Decide who has what role and complete the work associated with each job:
* Technology Specialist - You are in charge of understanding how to use the flip-cam. You will record the video and upload it to the computer. Use this flip camera site to help you.
* Researcher - You will research tips on how to create a video commercial. What kind of information is needed in order for it to be effective? Do internet research to find an article that provides this information. Use this instructional video site to help you.
* Producer - You will be in charge of writing and editing the entire script of the commercial. You will give out the parts and make all final decisions. Use this video script site to help you.
2) After you are done filming, watch the YouTube tutorial video below to learn how to upload your footage and turn it into a video for your classmates to watch.
